Playstation

How it all started

The Sony Play Station first came about as an attachement to the Super Nintendo called the SNES CD. Due to legal battles and Sony's drive to become a playing in the console wars. The idea was scrapped after only 200 units were produced.

The Playstation 1

Introduced in September 1995 to Noth America Sony Playstation was a huge hit. Over 11 Years the Sony Sold 102 Million counsoles becoming the best selling game system ever until PS2. With almost 8000 titles released for this system it far outweighs any other system in history.

The PSone

The PSOne was a lighter version of the Playstation one with an external power supply. Also this unit was sometimes sold with an LCD attachment for mobile play.

The Playstation 2

Introduced in early 2000 to North America.

#1 Selling game system of all time. 136 Million sold to date(2009) and 1900 titles to go with it. Sony Made out like a bandit with it's follow up model. This system did not come out like a bang. So manufacturing problems caused very few to be released and people were pay upwards of $1000on ebay for this system. In 2004 Sony Release the PS2 Slim. A sleeker design with broadband online play readily available. Still very popular today the PS2 is still supporting new games up to 2010 I hear.

The Playstation 3

No matter how much this thing costs it's worth it. Although it has yet to perform in the market it will have a huge splash one Final fantasy 13 comes out in 2010 (fingers crossed). The PS3 pretty much amounts to a HD BLuray paying gaming Multimedia computer for you telivision. Although it is optimized for future gameplay it serves very well as a multimedia hub.
